If you are looking for an island destination that is unique, an Isla Mujeres wedding may be a great idea for you. Elliot and I have been to Cancun many times. However, this was our first time photographing and exploring the island of Isla Mujeres. This destination is a short ferry ride off the coast of Cancun. As you boat over, you can sit on the top open deck and enjoy live music and the beautiful ocean views. There are plenty of excursions and different fun activities to do if you are looking to have a few days of fun with your guests. You can also rent golf carts as your source of transportation around the island. This makes for a even more unforgettable experience.
Sydni and Joey chose this location for their wedding and included their closest friends and family. The day before the wedding they invited all of their guests out for a special bar crawl to all of their favorite local island spots. All the wedding guests shared golf carts for the day and traveled around for their specialized booze cruise.
The next morning Sydni and Joey got ready at Privilege Aluxes Hotel and then we all ventured over to Zama Beach Club for an ocean front ceremony. The esthetic of the wedding was a boho jungle feel, and everything meshed together perfectly in unison. The florals had hints of pampas grass and Sydni wore boho bangles around her wrist, and small braids in her hair. One of our favorite parts was that the bridesmaids and groomsmen wore black from head to toe. This really made Sydni and Joey stand out as the bride and groom.
After the ceremony we took them down for sunset photos on the beach. Once there, we shot some amazing photos and also used the boat dock on site. We were thankful to have Tiffany from Sun Horse Weddings with us to help coordinate the day. Above all, she made sure everything ran smooth from start to finish. After dinner there was a fire show which was absolutely amazing. It really pumped up the wedding guests! This led everyone into a fun and crazy night of dancing to lots of EDM music.
In short, we are excited for our next journey down to Mexico, as it’s always a blast photographing in new locations. This Isla Mujeres wedding was one we will never forget! We are so happy Sydni and Joey had such a wonderful experience tying the knot. Are you are thinking about getting married in Isla Mujeres?
